Claude Code may be drawing a new line on game clones

A reported server-delivered instruction targets recreations of specific existing games. It does not establish a ban on making games with Claude.

On 30 October, chasm (@chasmmmmmmmmmmm) reported a new Claude Code instruction aimed at recreating specific existing games—even when a request changes the title. The alleged wording still allows original games, genre conventions and designs or assets supplied by the user. The reported boundary concerns copying a particular game, rather than making games at all.

The author attributes it to a server-delivered flag, tengu_heron_brook, and places its arrival around 27 October. A community reconstruction of an older Claude Code prompt describes a remote-instruction mechanism under that name. That makes the mechanism worth investigating; the older document does not verify this October payload or show which accounts received it.

Chubby (@kimmonismus) subsequently amplified the report. The open question is whether this is a broadly deployed restriction, a limited configuration or an incomplete reading of the instruction. Until there is an authenticated artifact or a first-party explanation, ‘Claude bans game development’ would overstate the evidence.
