74 minutes of AI cinema: Lumara puts its festival program online

After a New York screening, Venice has published the festival program on X. A chance to watch AI films together, beyond the isolated shots that usually fill the feed.

Lumara’s AI film festival program is now available to watch on X. On 30 October, Venice published a video running 1 hour, 13 minutes and 54 seconds, opening the screening to viewers who could not attend in New York.

The festival, presented by MoonPay and Venice, held its premiere on 26 October at Roxy Cinema. The online release offers something more useful than another selection of striking stills: time to see how these films build a sequence, a character or an idea.

Venice calls this the program’s digital world premiere. The original post below contains the video. Lumara’s website also lists finalists, award winners and directors, so you can put a name to a film and follow up on the work that catches your attention.

These are only part of the awards. Lumara also recognizes films under two minutes and work for young audiences, alongside its experimental and Venice-specific categories.

  • Candy — Jiaze Li. Grand Prize.

  • REVIVER — Aleksey Dor. Best Experimental Film.
  • Black Thunder — Ryan Lightbourn. Best Film Made With Venice.

Watch what happens between the images

Try watching a scene twice. First, follow what it asks you to feel. Then look at how it gets there: the length of a shot, a change in viewpoint, the moment sound arrives or disappears. Does a cut develop the scene, or simply replace one impressive image with another?

For a more experimental film, the question may be rhythm or association rather than plot. The awards provide an entry point; the program gives you the chance to form your own judgment.
